Strange Town Theatre is proud to be one of 22 Thrive Edinburgh Organisations to participte in the Get into Summer Collaboration. Around 2,400 children and young people benefitted from the #GetIntoSummer project - led by @MHFScot and @EdinburghThrive with funding from @scotgov. Young people most impacted by Covid were supported to socialise, play, and reconnect over the 2021 summer holidays. Strange Town are delighted to announce the publication of two scripts, ‘Balisong’ by Jennifer Adam & ‘Love Bites’ by Sam Siggs.

‘Balisong’ was commissioned by No Knives Better Lives and produced by Fast Forward in collaboration with Strange Town. The tour ran for three consecutive years with three different cast delivering 225 performances to an audience of over 44,000 young people.

‘Love Bites’ was commissioned and produced by Strange Town and was first performed at the Scottish Storytelling Centre in 2012. It has been revived several times since then.

Both plays were performed as part of the Strange Town 10th anniversary celebrations. You can buy copies through Salamader Street Publishers.

Strange Town is delighted to welcome actor Julia Brown as our second patron. Julia starred as Lois Bennett in the BBC/PBS America TV series World on Fire and in Jimmy McGovern’s Anthony for the BBC. Brought up in Edinburgh Julia said “”I am thrilled to be asked to be a patron of Strange Town. They are exemplary in their field and offer excellent Edinburgh-based performing arts opportunities for young people. It will be an honour for me to play a part in nurturing breakthrough talent from my own hometown.”
