Film (2 Groups)
11-18s: Fridays
Our Film groups operate both as one large unit and two smaller groups: Red Group & Black Group. Both cater for movie and cinema buffs!
You will learn how to shoot and edit your own films, as well as how to act for screen. This class is suitable for both those who wish to be on-camera and those who wish to direct, edit or write behind the scenes.
When do you accept new members?
We will open applications for new members from Monday 16th December once current members have finished renewing. In the meantime, please join the waiting list or for further information contact James at james@strangetown.org.uk

Class Times: 4.30-6.30pm (2 hours)
Term Fee: £140
At the start of term, members will be split into Red Group & Black Group based on the decisions of the Group Leaders.
The group leaders will take consideration of the following to help decide who will be in which group:
– Friendship Groups
– Ability & Experience
– Balance of Numbers
– Interest in Film Acting or Film-Making

Daniel Orejon
Workshop Leader: Friday Film (Black Group)
Daniel Orejon is a theatremaker and performer. He has been commissioned by the Edinburgh Multilingual Stories Festival and collaborated with Scottish Youth Theatre and the Edinburgh International Science Festival. He is the artistic director of the Crested Fools, with whom he has created award-nominated show The Rotting Hart. He specialises in projects that focus on multiculturalism, queerness and mental health, with a special fondness for all things Hispanic.
Adam Butler
Workshop Leader - Friday Film (Red Group)
Originally from Edinburgh, Adam has recently moved back from Glasgow where he spent four years training and developing his craft.
Adam holds a BA Acting degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Since graduating, Adam has worked as an actor, director, producer, and tutor.
His current and previous tutoring work includes the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Rose Bruford College, Edinburgh Acting School, and Edinburgh Council’s Adult Education Course. His latest directing credit was A Midsummer Night’s Dream, performed in June 2024 at the Church Hill Theatre.
Adam is a supportive and approachable tutor, and looks to help students discover their full potential.
Charlie Park-Long
Workshop Assistant: Friday Film (Black Group)
Charlie is a young and inspiring filmmaker working with Strange Town to help teach film and theatre to other young people. He is on the Autistic spectrum and he uses that to drive his passion for film. Film has been a huge passion of his for many years and he is enthused to have the chance to teach it to people, with the hope that those people he teaches will have the same passion as him. He’s most looking forward to talking and discussing film with his group. He is very excited to start this journey and happy to be working with Strange Town.
Cara Watson
Workshop Assistant: Friday Film (Red Group)
Cara Watson is a Scottish actor and emerging playwright. She holds a 1st (BA) Hons in Acting and has recently completed an MSc in Playwriting at The University of Edinburgh.
Recently, Cara was a co-writer and performer in a series of biopic films about the Scottish Suffragettes, which is now exhibited in Perth Museum.
She is also co-founder of New Writing collective Untie My Tongue Theatre. With her experience and passion within both theatre and filmmaking in Scotland, Cara is very excited to be working with Strange Town.
