James Beagon

James is an award-winning Edinburgh-based playwright/director and current Youth Theatre Manager of Strange Town. He has written a wide variety of plays for both young performers and adults, and had them performed at venues and Fringe Festivals across the UK including the Edinburgh Fringe and the Buxton Fringe. His Fringe work includes the award-winning productions “First Class” and “Gobland for the Goblins” and the award-nominated “Women of the Mourning Fields” and “Antigone na hEireann”.

His work for Strange Town includes 2019’s “Stolen Futures” presented by the 8-18s at the Traverse Theatre as well as “Beneath the Surface”, due for performance in 2022 after being delayed by the pandemic. Other Strange Town work includes “Something Special” and “Heart of the Storm”.
