HER by Jen Adam, previously toured Edinburgh Schools in January and February 2023 with public performances in February at the Scottish Storytelling Centre.

Fantastic actors. All school children should see this show.
An amazing show with such a talented group of young actors. The subject matter is such an important one to address and I wonder if you would consider extending the programme throughout other areas of Scotland. Well done it was brilliant.
The show deserves to be seen by as many young people as possible

HIM and HER. They go way back. Pals since babies and totally inseparable, until they weren’t.

Loosely reconnecting at high school, they’re now 17 and barely recognise each other. What can guys and girls really have in common anyway? How could they possibly understand each other now? After everything that’s happened? He’s seen some things. She’s about to. Now, they’ll need each other more than ever.

HER is a play about the damaging effects of gender inequality, the truth about consent and asks, how can you be the change you want to see in the world, when you feel like the world is fighting against you?

*Trigger warning* – this play deals with themes of sexual harassment and assault.

HER had a brilliant reaction from the schools we toured it to:

I like when the hero turned out not to be the hero!
Mature, relatable and real themes.
I have never seen anything like that before. It was amazing!
The actors were so talented.
The performance of HER by Strange Town was masterfully produced.
The characters were embodied beautifully by the actors and the set was incredibly well designed.
It was really impressive.
I loved the set and staging, it really added to the story which was emotive and powerful. The actors were captivating and the portrayal of the non-naturalistic style was amazing. The Q & A afterwards was informative and helpful for my own acting piece. Overall it was an eye opening and highly enjoyable learning experience. 🙂
