Strange Town Stage Manager Intern
Strange Town is recruiting a Stage Manager Intern in partnership with Arts and Creative Industries Graduate Internships.
This person will assist in the production of 7 short new plays to be performed in May/June at the Scottish Storytelling Centre, by Strange Town’s youth theatre (8-18s) and young company (18-25s). This is a fantastic opportunity to learn first hand how a small arts organisation such as Strange Town operates and delivers productions.
Main responsibilities include:
- assisting in sourcing, procuring and making props and costumes
- managing a tight budget (basic Excel administration)
- attending some rehearsals and all production meetings
- liaising with directors, cast members and volunteers
- assisting with technical and dress rehearsals and helping operate shows
Essential Skills/Requirements:
- creative and practical prop-making ability
- ability to prioritise tasks
- an understanding of the theatrical process
- experience of working to a budget
- ability to work to meet deadlines
Desirable skills/requirements:
- good organisation
- team player
- good communication skills
- ability to keep calm under pressure
Duration: 25th March - 23 June 2013 (13 weeks)
5 days per week (variable hours) £6.19 p/h

- Must be qualified in an arts related subject to degree level.

Young Company Christmas Performances 2011
The Young Company performed Tinseltrash by Alan Gordon, Tim Primrose & Sam Siggs at the Scottish Storytelling Centre on Sun 18 and Mon 19 December at 7.30pm - it was the Christmas show for people who don't like Christmas....

Strange Town Young Company and Youth Theatre both had great success performing at the Edinburgh Fringe at Out of the Blue and Hill Street Venue. After You've Gone by Duncan Kidd and Hex by Tim Primrose and Sam Siggs had great audiences and received five star reviews. Irvine Welsh supported Strange Town hugely helping us promote both shows. Strange Town at National Festival of Youth Theatre 2011Strange Town 14-18s took their show Truth Dare Kiss to Rothes Halls in July and took the festival by storm. Live music and sparky dialogue entertained the 300 plus audience, largely made up of youth theatres from around the world.

Strange Town's 14-18s took the Royal Lyceum stage by storm on June 10th with Duncan Kidd's new play 'Wearing Badges Is Not Enough', as part of the Connect Festival. The group also took the play to Rothes Halls on July 2nd, where it kickstarted the National Festival of Youth Theatre.
